Our Top Priorities
Priorities
Public Safety:
How Can We Collaborate for a Safer North Lauderdale?
- Create crime-prevention initiatives and implement community policing strategies in partnership with local police to foster resident-police interaction and trust.
- Improve emergency readiness measures and establish community training sessions and drills to help residents and businesses prepare for emergencies.
- Provide support services for victims of crime, including counseling, legal aid, and referrals to other resources for aftermath assistance.
Senior & Youth Programs:
How Can We Engage Community Members of All Ages?
- Partner with local stakeholders and businesses to provide workshops on topics relevant to Seniors, such as financial planning, health management, legal assistance, and technology usage.
- Develop Senior social gatherings such as luncheons, game nights, and cultural outings to combat social isolation and foster community inclusivity.
- Create programs for Youth consisting of career path guidance, tutoring, and enrichment activities designed to divert Youth away from the juvenile justice system and to support academic success.
- Establish a community mentorship program pairing local Youth with adult mentors who can provide guidance, support, and encouragement as they navigate challenges and pursue their personal and professional goals.
Transparent Property Taxes:
Where are Your Property Taxes Going?
- Develop user-friendly online platforms where taxpayers can access clear and understandable breakdowns of how their property taxes are allocated and spent.
- Host town halls to discuss property tax budgets, expenditures, and future plans, allowing taxpayers to ask questions and provide feedback.
- Launch educational campaigns to inform taxpayers about the property tax assessment process, including how assessments are conducted and how tax rates are determined.
- Provide regular updates and notifications to taxpayers about any changes in property taxes to maintain accountability.
